ABOUT
AUTHOR
Meet Kristin Stanton
Kristin Stanton grew up in a loving, working-class family in upstate New York. A trumpet player in her high school marching band, she dreamed of a stable, happy life. But in her late teens and early twenties, Kristin’s choices led her down a harrowing path of addiction, abusive relationships, and life on the streets.
Over the years, She battled alcoholism, heroin and crack addiction. She endured profound trauma including sexual violence and repeated stints in rehab. Kristin chose her path of self-destruction. It was not forced upon her by anyone. She worked as a prostitute to pay for her drugs. She suffered the misery of homelessness. Yet her life was also marked by moments of strength, from hiking the entire Appalachian Trail to working in emergency rooms, where she found purpose in helping others.
ABOUT
MY BOOK
From Marching Band to The Glass Rose is the unfiltered, story of Kristin Stanton, told through the surviving pages of her own journals. In brutally honest detail, Kristin recounts her transformation from a small-town high school geeky girl with a promising future to a woman consumed by addiction, abusive relationships, and life on the streets.
These pages capture the highs and the devastating lows from hiking the entire Appalachian Trail and working in hospital emergency rooms to surviving sexual violence, overdoses, and the grip of heroin and crack cocaine. Nothing is censored, and nothing is softened.

“This book hit me like a freight train. Kristin’s journals are brutally honest and left me thinking about them long after I closed the last page. It’s not pretty, it’s not polished and that’s exactly why it’s so powerful. A must-read for anyone who thinks addiction ‘can’t happen to them.’”
